The Cultural Navigation System™

The bridge between people, the cultures they carry, and the organizations serving them.

Each person describes, in their own words, how culture shapes them.

Ownership rests with the individual. Accountability rests with the institution. Trust is built between them.

For individuals

Belonging starts in your own words. Put one thing you carry into words, and you get:

  • Your personalized Thread card, growing with every thread you add

Trust is what brings students back to class, patients back to care, and employees back to work. See how the System builds it, and what a Pilot takes.

How it comes together

Digital connection has never been higher.Human connection is falling behind.

When people feel disconnected, they miss class, skip appointments, and leave jobs. Reconnecting takes trust, and trust often stops short of our differences: Edelman’s 2026 research calls this insularity. Sharing your cultural narratives is where that trust begins.

What your team gets

  • Fewer students leave, fewer patients miss care, and fewer employees quit
  • Every student, patient, and employee you keep is funding or revenue kept, or a replacement cost avoided
  • First meetings start from what matters to each person, so there are fewer complaints, escalations, and repeat conversations
  • A Pilot measures attendance, missed appointments, or turnover across the whole group, against your own numbers (one point is 10 people per 1,000)
  • Fits the work your teams already do

The System,
in four moves

01

Describe

Each person shares how culture shapes them, in their own words.

02

Organize

One proprietary engine organizes what each person shares.

03

Return

Each person gets their words back, ready to share.

04

Connect

Teachers, care teams, and managers connect with each person.

Return is where
Adopting Threads™ begins.

Categories, labels, and placements are part of every life story, including mine.

Mia's adoption papers from 1969: a certificate from the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, her Korean travel certificate, and a photo of her as a toddler with her name, Baik Hye Ri, written on it.

I was a post-war orphan left at one week old in a train station outside of Seoul, Korea.

“While I have no memory of that moment, I inherited the legacy of that loss.”

Today, I choose to accept and honor it.

More about Mia

Wherever you are, and whatever category, label, or placement you may have been assigned to by someone else, I'm happy you're here.

A note from Mia

My own story taught me that culture shapes identity, often before we have a say. Each of us navigates both every day. The question I keep returning to is simple: how can connection start from what matters most to you? That is why I am designing the Cultural Navigation System™ around a few guided questions, with your answers as the starting point.

Our personal narratives hold our cultural identities, our beliefs, and the systems that shape us. When we share them with one another, trust has a place to begin. I believe there is room for each of our stories, including yours. I invite you to share yours on our Stories page.

Let’s connect, create, and weave this together.

Culturally yours, Mia
